Hi, guys! This video is the pilot episode of my series on Airfix 1/48 Ju87B(R)-2 Stuka dive bomber. Of older vintage (meanwhile Airfix have released a much improved kit from modern molding), the kit is still worthy, despite its raised rivet details and iffy fit here and there. The marking option I chose is for an Italian aircraft from WW2. Under Italian management, Stukas were known as Picchiat...

Lovely build on this Challenging kit.I love how you did the white wash over the camouflage.... lovely
Thank you very much! Indeed, the painted, not decalled red star and the winterwash camouflage were the main challenges of this kit. Thanks for watching!
@@PanzergrauModels I can imagine! I would love to pull a look like that off someday on like a 72nd Yak-1 or LaGG-3
who ever can make this kit look good he mastered the modelling. I assembled one about 15 years ago and it was a nightmare :) you made it look good :)
Thank you!
Did you use the paints in the assembly instructions?
Not really. I used life references from the Military Museum in Bucharest.
@@PanzergrauModels I understand, thanks
Can I use Vallejo Primer, or Alclad primer (astand)
Whats the name of the begin song (march song) in this video? Great build btw. Never build a miniart tank kit, the parts count scared me a bit.
Nice! my mates dad flew Mig 15 planes with Bulgarian Air Firce and he had to eject once✈️... what is the music at rhe beginning 👍
Too bad about the mis registered decals.
Indeed, that was hurting! But meanwhile RB Productions have released a full set of correctly printed decals (four options) which I bought together with two more IAR 80s.
Very nice!
Thank you!
Excellent work and demo for me!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Nice work! Great detail!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Great build and finish. I’ve got this one in my stash, so hope to build it this year. How did you find the decals? I’ve not built any Eduard kits with the ‘new’ decals and I’ve read mixed reviews about them.
Thank you so much! These decals were flawless: thin, very transparent carrier film, thin and souple.
@@PanzergrauModels Thanks for the info, very much appreciated.
Congratulation. Beautifully made model
Thank you!
If i build this model I would be very frustrated about the pretty bad placed decals.
Wonderful video and thank you. I'm curious as to what PSI you spray at? I'm finding some paint splatter at the beginning of my sessions but they go away after a few moments however I may have over thinned a tad. TruColor recommends 28-32PSI although I prefer up close at a lower PSI. My general comfort zone is 12-20PSI so their suggestion is a bit high for my liking. Your combo with Mr. Leveling Thinner (who is also my BFF) is very interesting because TruColor mentions acetone as an ingredient in their paint.
Thank you very much for your feed-back! The pressure I normally use - as I did in the video - is 18-20 psi (a/b trigger depressed). Straight from the bottle, TCP paint may require 30 psi+, but I always thinned them approx 3:1 paint:thinner for a .4mm setup. I've tried as thinner acetone (rougher finish, faster drying time), xylene (very smooth finish, but very "hot" mix) and MLT (excellent "egshell" finish, 2-3 hours dry to touch finish). The splattering is a common occurence; never the needle seals perfectly. It can be avoided by starting spraying outside the surface of the model at every pass, especially after the a/b was resting for a little while.
@@PanzergrauModels Awesome and thank you for the kind and detailed reply. My setup in .4mm needle and PSI as well as air brush distance and paint technique seems to mimic yours so hopefully my results will too :) And a big thank you for talking through your build, the masking portion is a great FAQ.
Very nice !! This turned out great! Does this vehicle have to ability to switch gearboxs ? The two steering wheels is odd, unless it can adequately go forward & backwards? Kinda like a PBR River patrol boat ? Not the typical slow 1 speed reverse?
Thank you so much! No - the build us as basic as it gets: one gear box connected to a simple driveshaft. Steyr ADGZ - also on this channel - have the ability to switch engines / gearboxes
There is NO yellow on top of the wings. Mistake in the instructions. Box-top picture is correct.
I know - I found out later. The width and number of the camouflage strips is also wrong. I bought 2 other kits which I'm gonna do based on accurate paint schemes. Thanks for comment!
Extra Super Mig 15 100%.AIR Force Romanian.
Thank you! Yes, the Eduard kit is very good and comes with lots of insignias.
Night at the opera was great audio, model build so so.
Thank you very much for the kind comments. Yes, I do my modellin on jazz or cameral music.
One of my favorites. It looks great in white with a black vinyl roof too.
If i tried to drill that mg barrel it would snap lol.
:) I did snapped a few before. Not so difficult with the right tools and correct lightning / working position.
Great build. I specially liked the technique you used to call out paint, tools, etc. I would like to hear your commentary of the build as you progress. Better lighting Woolf improve your videos
Nice build. I'm about to start on their T-55. I'm curious about why you used white glue to attach the road wheels?
Extra super Romanian Mig15/Mig15bis?? Super 100%
Thank You! MiG 15 (Czech production).

Hey, I'm planning to purchase this model. It will be my first project, so I'm looking at what I need. Could you kindly provide what paints and possibly other materials I would need? I don't want to purchase model only to discover in a middle of a project that I lack specific paints for an accurate painting of a model.

Miniart do great stuff! I'm a big fan of miniart armour! I have done a lot of videos on miniart products.
i really like how you did the tarp cover looks really weathered like canvas would be. Cheers Stu
Thanks, Stu! Yes, the canvas was sprayed from afar woth acrylics, for grainy texture, then dry-brushed with enamels to enhance the contrast. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Excellent presentation
Thanks, Glenn!
Thank you for sharing. I am building the same kit!
@@WGlennNorman It's a very nice kit, easy to put together. Unfortunately the painting instructions are all wrong and decals and decals placements erroneous. The colour strips should be narrower on the wings and many Romanian IAR 80s had wrap - around camouflages (i.e. only the undersides of the wings were sky blue). Also the interior of the cockpit was light blue. The instruments were RLM66, being of German make, but the interior wasn't RLM02. I have discovered these details after I completed the build - and my build is erroneous. I bought 2 new kits to build them in specific schemes. The decals from RB Production are excellent and the colour schemes provided with are thoroughly researched.
Thank you for the information!
Bravo
Mulțumesc, Adi!
Very nice build... and sooo many tips and tricks I will learn from... Thank you so much for this video.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! I really appreciate it - and I am always glad to share my modelling experiences.
Ho !!! thank you so much for your answer. I really appreciate it too. I'm waiting for my 1/35 Panzerspähwagen P 204 (f) released by ICM (kit number 35374) and for sure I will follow your steps. Will share the result with you.
@@alainvandenbosch2685 Excellent kit. The one I had it's a Tamiya rebox of the same ICM - with a few extras - as the stowage I used in this build. It's a gem of a kit and I cannot to see what you're going to get from it.
German background music while building a Soviet tank. Bold choice.
Haha. I haven't see it that way :) For me the music has no nationality but, in this case, it is about the YT copyright; I remember I've tried to get a Katiousha song for another build and I couldn't find any without copyright infringement :(
Denmark flag for a licence plate! I visited there for a while in the late 1990's. I found a decal sheet of Danish licence plates...but they were lost in a flood in 2013.
Yeah, the build was a tribute to my "modelling school" - AutoModeler that is and especially to one online friend from Denmark. The plate was masked and painted - no decals ;)
@@PanzergrauModels Looks great. When I was a kid, I traveled to the furthest hobby shop away from my house and I would buy Scale Auto and Car Modeler magazines and learn from what those builders were doing in there. Sadly, i lost my entire collection to the 2013 High River Flood.
@@MonsterHobbiesModelCarGarage That's sad to hear. I survived Hurricane Irma here and luckily my house was unscathed. But I've seen three of my neighbouring houses levelled to ground 0. I would have went nuts if I would have my stash and bench destroyed and lost for good.
@@PanzergrauModels I lost anything 7" high at the house...but my hobby store went under 5 feet.
@@MonsterHobbiesModelCarGarage That sounds scary! BTW, which one it's your video where you explain why AMT had a short run of excellent kits, then went back to the old bad habit of reboxing crap?
Good build. I laughed when I heard the music when the Camaro box came in.
Yeah, I want the epoque feeling to the build. And it's a funny little song as well :)
@@PanzergrauModels Great!
Nice build, well done.
Thank you! The kit it's also very nice and it has well appointed detail.
Revell, Germany designers are what the German's call "FACHIDIOTEN" or technical idiots. Small parts are spread out on spur tress where ever they could find a place. Molding gates are place in impossible to access places and tend to damage or distort small parts. The instructions look like and Escher drawing and are organized in a sequence that requires guessing if they should be followed (which you did not do in the video, thankfully) On top of all that half the parts fit well and half require overnight drying time. Over all this kit is a tremendous example of German technical accomplishment; vs. practicality, like the Panther (two lost to engine fires at the rail head at Kursk) tank and Volksjager. The ICM G4 kit is much better. I have been building models for 40 years and Revell, Germany does not do the Revell name any favors. Congratulations on your build.
Thank you! Revell destroyed their name by re-boxing altogether good and bad. This particular kit is an ICM originally, and an early ICM at that. They're not the best, indeed, regarding the sprues layout, but after a couple kits you can get their logic. I sort of like 'em.
That looks wunderbar! Nice finish and scheme. I definitely have to get this kit, the light gray and black scheme looks good.
Thank you so much! Yes, indeed is a very nice detailed kit produced by ICM and re-boxed by Revell. Yo've got right the main point of this build: the contrast between shiny "hard" black and matte "soft" black. If it'll be to redo this vehicle (maybe the 1/24th version), probably I will chose the dark blue & black scheme. Cheers!
Beautiful model. I don't really get the complaints about kits being too much work and having too many parts. When I was a kid, assembling the model was most of the fun. Painting them was great, but not the big payoff it is now. I see guys at shows proudly explaining the days of effort invested in the 500 different methods and techniques they applied to their award-winning model, yet they have visible seams and joins, sprue marks, filing and sanding scars, glue leaks and fingerprints, especially on clear components. So many modelers now rush through the "boring" assembly to get to the fun weathering. Kind of a shame. (This T-54 looks great, though.)
Thank you for leaving a comment and Happy Holydays! I agree with you 100%. Ironically, we as modellers want as many details as possible and then the same us complain about the same details :). There are instances of poor engineering though, as in this T54's case the smoke canisters, unnecessarily over complicated as plastic / PE / plastic again sandwiches but per whole assembly the kit is beautiful. And, indeed, nowadays the accent lays on the finishing and weathering in disproportionate manner, thanks to Mig Jimenez and alike. Lately I am more into 1/24th cars and I somewhat feel "cheated", if not frustrated when an (older) model comes in only few parts, especially the interiors, killing all the detail. The balance is hard to achieve though and I can say that my favourites are Moebius Models for cars. For armoured vehicles, newer Tamiya, MiniArt, Bronco and Hobby Boss are scoring big in my preferences.
@@PanzergrauModels There's never been a better time to be a scale modeler! These new kits are astonishing. Meng, MiniArt, Tamiya, etc. Kits we never dreamed about when I was young. And the range of paints and tools is amazing. It would be nice if young(er) model makers rediscovered the joy of assembling kits properly. There's really no excuse for sloppy assembly with the precision models on the market today. Not like the clunky old Airfix and Monogram stuff (etc.) from days gone! xD
Par excellence.!
Thanks, Paul. I really appreciate your feed-back!
Bravo..Bravo..!
Again, many thanks, Paul. I'm glad you liked it - that's the biggest reward for an You-tuber ;)
Yo, I found you in the Graham's Fz-82 Tutorial, all of this videos are filmed with that camera? The quality is superb!! And the audio also!!
Yes, the latest videos are filmed with FZ-82. The audio is improved though (noise reduction and normalizing). The video is as good as raw - no other editing than cutting and rendering to YT defaults.
@@PanzergrauModels nice, so great, Im trying the video with this camera, good to see.
I am just completing this exact same kit myself and agree that despite it's basic details, does build into a good kit. The original molds date back to 1981, so it is doing well for it's age. I added Eduard instrument panel and seat belt harnesses in an attempt to enhance my kit. Unfortunately the instrument panel is not visible, as the canopy cannot be displayed open in this kit. Thank you for posting your video, as I can appreciate the hard work you put into making your example. Well done.
Thank you so much! Indeed, despite its age the kit holds well. The only real issues were in the cowling area and the belly window - but nothing that a modicum of skill cannot sort it out. I hope you enjoy pitting together and painting the kit as much as I did!
